Augmented Reality (AR) Maker Night

What is a Augmented Reality?

Augmented Reality allows you to see the real world with virtual objects overlaid. AR can be used for entertainment, scientific discovery, fashion, training, retail, cosplay, etc. Unlike virtual reality, which creates a totally artificial environment, augmented reality uses the existing environment and overlays new information on top of it.

What is a AR Maker night?

Augmented Reality is an emerging technology where real world markers, interface with computer systems. We will make augmented reality markers together to control virtual objects, clothing, data, etc. of your choosing. You will walk away with your markers and application, as well as a basic knowledge of how to set up AR, markers, and attach virtual objects.

Who can participate?

People from all backgrounds are welcome! Students, Faculty, Staff, friends and family, are all welcome! Bring your expertise to the table and learn other skills along the way!

What will I get from this AR Maker Night?

The AR application will be used for future InnoVRtors projects and demos. As a participant in this AR maker night, your name will be forever credited in the future with the creation of this display. After the maker night, instructions will be provided to participants who would like to build one at home on their own.

Do I have to bring anything?

It is encouraged to bring your laptop that has a camera for your personal use to this maker night. However, VR Maker Nights are FREE and you don't have to bring any materials with you- we will have a few computers for those who do not wish to bring their laptops. Additionally, these applications will work on a tablet or phone (android) so you may bring one of those as well (again for your personal use).

Join us as a group for a fun night of making and meeting others!

You will also have the opportunity to take fun photos in our AR-photobooth. Hope to see you all there!
