World Comes to Wyoming Fund|Request for Proposals

  World Comes to Wyoming Fund

Request for Proposals

The World Comes to Wyoming Fund aims to create a mini-global crossroads by using the University of Wyoming's international expertise to invigorate established projects throughout the state. By bringing in experts from other countries to join in projects with Wyoming residents we hope to expose the visitors to Wyoming's unique culture, thinking, and problem-solving style, while learning from them. Our goal is to enrich on-going projects and to encourage bookending of personal visits with engagement before and after via tools like video conferencing, Skype, chat and social networking.

Established in 2009, the Fund provides grants of up to $2,400 a year. It is financed by gifts, grants, and matching grants.

Applications are welcome from anyone who has a pre-existing project in Wyoming that would benefit in a measurable way from interaction with a visiting expert(s) from another country. Rather than start new projects, the Fund is to augment projects that exist. These ongoing projects may be economic, educational or political, but they must involve the University of Wyoming, and extend beyond the Laramie campus. We encourage especially projects that pair Wyoming entities, including companies, non-profits, and government agencies, with UW experts.

Awards will be determined by a four-person committee that includes Dr. Anne Alexander, director of UW International Programs;  two members of the U.W. International Board of Advisors, David Bostrom, UW trustee, and Ann Tollefson; and Fund sponsor/donor Cathy Healy, an alum of the Board.

Deadline for applications is 5 pm, Friday, November 14, 2014. The decision will be delivered in a timely manner.
