Fellowships and Internships

 

Jon Herrboldt received a State Department internship and worked in the the U.S. Embassy in Paris during Fall 2006. Jon also interned with Thanksgiving Coffee Company in summer 2007, studying how a small business works in the international arena and researching fair trade practices.
Brianna Jones interned for the U.S. Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions in Washington D.C. during Spring 2007.
Michael Humbracht received a State Department internship with the Public Affairs section in the U.S. Embassy in Paris during Spring 2007.
Anna Guyton interned at the World Bank in Summer 2007. Anna worked in the Private Sector Finance Division for Africa (AFTPS). She performed research and prepared summary analyses in support of AFTPS unit economic sector work, including writing summaries in French and English on sub-national Investment Climate Issues for publication at World Bank Group Annual Meetings.
Adam Liebman, a Master's candidate, received a National Security Education Program (NSEP), David L. Boren Fellowship for 2007-8 academic year. Adam studied Chinese language at Yunnan University in Kunming, Chin and gathered data for his thesis research project , the Chinese public’s attitudes and actions towards environmental issues.   
Jason Mundy, a recent Master's graduate, received a Summer 2007 internship with Winrock International. Winrock International. He performed research for USAID on water users associations (WUAs) in Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan to develop the skills and capabilities to effectively plan, maintain, and manage their on-farm irrigation and drainage systems. 
Amy Arnold, a recent Master's graduate, interned during Summer 2007 with Iris, a non-governmental organization that operates a large-scale orphanage as well as several agriculture and economic community development programs throughout the Pemba region in Mozambique.
Dale Novotny and Kendall Peacock, dual majors in environment and natural resources, interned with the Wyoming Conservation Corps during Summer 2007. Interns work on projects such as trail construction, habitat and watershed protection, fencing, improvements to city parks and weatherization of homes for low-income families.
Melissa Hess, a Senior with an interest in global public health, interned at the Laramie Public Health Clinic during Summer 2007. Melissa studied how the cultural background of a patient influences their medical decisions. She also researched alternative health practices.
Kelsey Day interned with the International Scholarship Laureate Program – Delegation on Diplomacy. She traveled to South Africa to participate in an intensive two-week study of historical and current issues including Apartheid, HIV/AIDS, the role of NGO’s and conflict resolution.
Lenna Rice received an internship with the Sports Ambassador Program during Summer 2007. She accompanied a delegation of middle/high school athletes to Austria . She was responsible for the administrative and logistical aspects of the overseas travel and was a team leader for 40 students.
Caroline Morris interned at the Brookings Institute in Washington D.C. for the Fall 2007 semester. Caroline worked in communications, organizing various events for scholars, conducting media monitoring on various senior scholars and their research, designing media databases, fielding media calls, writing summaries of scholars research, and editing transcripts and summaries.
Tommy Talley received a State Department internship with the Political/Economic Division of the U.S. Consulate General´s office in Düsseldorf, Germany for the Spring 2008 semester. Tommy performed research, traveled to schools to give presentations on U.S.-German relations, and helped organize a visit for the U.S. Ambassador.
Jenny Clay intered in Senator John Barasso's office in Washington D.C. in Spring 2008 semester. Senator Barasso serves on the Foreign Relations Committee.
Talia Sanders interned for Global Strategies in Bend, Oregon during Summer 2008. Talia is focusing on Global Economic Systems. She worked on international marketing campaigns.
Jeminie Shell, a Master's candidate, interned with an NGO dedicated to addressing Liberia's solid waste crisis. Jemnie spent the 2008 summer in Liberia working with the public to raise community awareness, researching and helping implement safe water storage and treatment to reduce waterborne diseases, and working with other interested agencies, including the World Bank and the International Rescue Committee.
Sam Tolstedt interned for AMIDEAST in Tunisia during Summer 2008. She facilitated the Learn and Serve Program, which she participated in during Summer 2007.
Susannah Tobey received a State Department internship withthe Economic Division of the U.S. Embassy in Vladivostok, Russia for the Summer 2008 semester.
Tera Laub interned at the Brookings Institute in Washington D.C. in Summer 2008. Tera worked for the Communications Director in the Foreign Policy Studies divsion.
Jennifer Jang is double majoring in international studies and education. She interned at Seattle University as part of the National Association of Student Personnel Administrator (NASPA) Undergraduate Fellows Program in Summer 2008.
Macy Sukut interned with Senator Barrasso during Summer 2008 in Washington D.C. Macy will be the Senator's staff assistant upon graduating in May, 2009.
Evan Baker received a National Security Education Program (NSEP), David L. Boren Fellowship for the 2008-2009 academic year to study at Yunnan University in Kuming, China. He will study Chinese intensively and do some research on China-Southeast relations.
Cobus Block received the 2008-2009 Chinese Ambassador's Wyoming Scholarship. The scholarship covers tuition and living expenses for the academic year. Cobus plans to study at Zhejiang Univeristy where he will take Chinese classes and research food supply chains.
Jahna Locke, a graduating senior, received a Fulbright Fellowship for 2009/2010 to be an English Teaching Assistant in Madrid, Spain.
Alex Brauer, a Master's candidate, will be a researcher-in-residence in Prague for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe during Summer 2008. He will aslo intern with the Great Baikal Trail Organization.
James Ward will intern for Senator Enzi in Washington D.C. during Summer 2009.
Emily Heid will intern with Senator Barrasso's state office in Sheridan, WY during Summer 2009.
Mark Leech, a grduate student, will intern with the Political Affairs Division in the U.S. Embassy in Managua, Nicaragua during Summer 2009. (U.S. State Department - Bureau of Western Hempishere Affairs)
Yurie Ukai is intering with the Energy and Environmental Research Group of Toyota Motor North America, Inc. in Washington D.C. during Summer 2009. Her work includes research, writing, translation, generating reports, attending business meetings and performing general administrative tasks. 
 
Dale Novotny will intern with the Foreign Agricultural Service in Seoul, Korea in Fall 2009. His duties will include collecting information and communicating it to either U.S. exporters or FAS headquarters, collecting information from news reports, databases and meetings with Korean contacts and writing up market briefs on findings that will be published on FAS’ website or used to respond by email to questions we receive from U.S. exporters.
Ian Melcoir, a senior in international studies, received the Chinese Ambassador Wyoming Scholarship to study in Shanghai for the 2009-2010 academic year. The scholarship covers all academic expenses and includes a monthly stipend.
