Yi-Ling ChenYi-Ling Chen, Assistant Professor, Global & Area Studies and Geography

Research Interests: Neoliberalism, urban regeneration, housing policies, and gender 

Teaching Interests: economic geography, urban geography, social geography, urban planning, gender and urban planning, global cities, East Asian development

Dr. Yi Ling Chen joined the Global & Area Studies Program and Geography Department in Fall 2010. Prior to joining UW, she was a faculty member at the College of Environmental Studies at National Dong Hwa University in Taiwan from 2003 to 2010. She has also served as a consultant for local government and non-government organizations (NG0's) in Taiwan. She has been actively participating in grassroots movements on environment and social housing. She has received five research grants from Taiwan's National Science Council. Yi-Ling loves to travel. She and her husband, a professor in mathematics at UW, have a daughter, Elisa, born in Laramie in 2007.
