Dr. Smith's research interests include: Influence of physical activity in primary and secondary prevention of overweight/obesity, cardiovascular diseases, and type 2 diabetes; Influence of physical activity and aging on biomarkers of oxidative stress, inflammation, fibrinolysis, and endothelial function; Translational models/approaches to increase and sustain participation in physical activity throughout the lifespan (childhood through late adulthood). Current Projects: School-based Physical Activity Intervention in Rural Settings (SPAIRS) NIH Grant # P20 RR016474; Wyoming Active Living Kick (WALK) pilot project; WALK 2.
