Graduate students in the program earn a master of science (M.S.) degree in Kinesiology and Health.
Admission into the M.S. degree program is open to students who have obtained an undergraduate degree with a major program of study in exercise and sport science, health, or physical education teacher education. Those students who have undergraduate degrees in areas outside of kinesiology and health may be granted provisional admission with the requirement of completing undergraduate coursework in kinesiology and/or health during their first year of graduate study. When applying, students are required to have a minimum undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 point scale), three letters of recommendation, a letter of intent, and a minimum combined verbal and quantitative score of 291 on the Graduate Record Examination for admission. A TOEFL score of 600 is required of students not having English as their first language.
Two options are available to on-campus graduate students in the Division of Kinesiology and Health:
With either option, there are three areas of emphasis to choose from: 1) exercise and sport science, 2) health, or 3) physical education teacher education.
Areas of Emphasis:
Exercise and Sport Science - Plan A (thesis)
Exercise and Sport Science - Plan B (non-thesis)
Physical Education Teacher Education - Plan A (thesis)
Physical Education Teacher Education - Plan B (non-thesis)

Area of Emphasis:
Kinesiology and Health (distance) - Physical Education Teaching Only
Application deadlines for both on-campus and distance graduate programs are March 1 (for fall semester admittance) and October 1 (for spring semester admittance).
