Programs of Study

Graduate students in the program earn a master of science (M.S.) degree in Kinesiology and Health. 


Admission into the M.S. degree program is open to students who have obtained an undergraduate degree with a major program of study in exercise and sport science, health, or physical education teacher education. Students who have undergraduate degrees in areas outside of kinesiology and health may be granted provisional admission with the requirement of completing undergraduate coursework in kinesiology and/or health during their first year of graduate study. When applying, students are required to have a minimum undergraduate grade point average of 3.0 (on a 4.0 point scale), three letters of recommendation, a letter of intent, and a minimum combined verbal and quantitative score of 291 on the Graduate Record Examination for admission. For international students, a minimum TOEFL score of 540 on the written exam, or 76 on the Internet-based test, is required for full admission of students not having English as their first language. We will also accept official IELTS scores. A minimum score of 6.0 on the IELTS exam is required for full admission of students not having English as their first language.

 Graduate Assistantship Funding Information

Based on the average of our comparator institutions, UW's tuition and fees are 27 percent lower for in-state and 33 percent lower for out-of-state, while our graduate assistantships remain competitive at an average of 95 percent. The cost of living in Laramie is also typically lower than that of those same institutions.




Graduate Student Handbook

At the beginning of each semester Graduate Student Assistants are bombarded with rules, policies and information about college life in general. This handbook is designed to assist with learning the procedures used in the Division of Kinesiology and Health, College of Health Sciences, University of Wyoming. Please read the enclosed information as soon as you can. You will be amazed at the number of questions that will be answered for you in this booklet!! If you have questions for which you cannot find the answers, by all means, please see Dr. Tucker Readdy, Graduate Program Coordinator, or another Division faculty/staff member as appropriate.  





Kinesiology and Health applications open November 15, 2018 and close February 5, 2019.




Program Learning Outcomes

The Division of Kinesiology and Health offers two undergraduate programs leading to the Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Health: Kinesiology and Health Promotion (K&HP); and Physical Education Teacher Education (PHET). Both are four-year 120 credit hour degree programs. Approximately 450 majors are enrolled across the two undergraduate programs.
