The College of Law's criminal law offerings integrate legal theory, ethics, and practical skills to fully prepare you for a career in criminal justice and related fields. Attorneys with a focus in criminal law often work as public defenders, private defense attorneys, prosecutors, corporate counselors, and judges, just to name a few. The College of Law offers courses that cover the fundamental principles of criminal law and procedure, as well as the intersection of criminal law with other areas of law. Our trial practice course, our clinics, and several externships provide practical trial and appellate skills important to criminal law practice. Our clinical program allows students to represent actual clients in post-conviction matters through the Defender Aid Program, or to represent the State of Wyoming through the Prosecution Assistance Program.
