Kate Mercer grew up in Cheyenne, Wyoming. She attended the University of Wyoming for her undergraduate degree, earning her B.A. in Psychology with a minor in Business in 2016.
After interning for United States Senator John Barasso in Washington, D.C., she decided to pursue a law degree with the hopes that a legal career would allow her to better affect change in the world.
Mercer has been actively involved in the law school. She served as a mentor for incoming law students through the College of Law Mentoring Program, she is a Member of the Women’s Law Forum student group, and she competed in the 2017 WTLA Voir Dire Competition where she finished in the semi-final round.
In addition to her contributions to the law school, Mercer has gained valuable legal experiences though two clerkship positions with the Laramie County and Albany County Circuit Courts, as well as through a legal internship with the Albany County Attorney’s Office.
