Faculty Highlights: Published Works and Accolades

November 28, 2018 — The University of Wyoming College of Law faculty are known for their expertise and wealth of experience in teaching. In addition to the long hours put into the classroom, our accomplished professors are continually striving to expand scholarship in their specific areas of study, and to contribute valuable academic resources for the wider legal community. Here are a handful of recent publishing accomplishments and contributions from some of our faculty.

jada-garofalo Student Highlight: Student Argues before the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals

November 20, 2018 — On Friday, November 16th, third-year law student Jada Garofalo argued a criminal case before the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals as part of her internship with the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney’s Office in Cheyenne.

November 15, 2018 — Professor Darrell Jackson of the University of Wyoming College of Law, and Nicole Crawford, Chief Curator and Assistant Director of the University of Wyoming Art Museum, will be giving a presentation on their groundbreaking research, Stealing Culture: The Intersection of Criminal Law and Museums.

June 25, 2018 — Professor Dee Pridgen is nominated for the Wyoming Business Report’s 2018 Women of Influence Awards.

intl-cent Center for International Human Rights Law and Advocacy Produces Report on Economic Contributions of Immigrants in Teton County

June 14, 2018 — CIHRLA collaborated with New American Economy (NAE), a non-profit organization that advocates for policies that increase opportunities for immigrants to contribute to the U.S. economy and to U.S communities, to produce the report on the economic contributions of immigrant workers within Teton County.

delaney Faculty Highlight: Professor James Delaney Recognized by the American College of Tax Counsel as a Fellow

May 30, 2018 — Professor James M. Delaney, the Winston S. Howard Distinguished Professor of Law and Federal Tax Law expert at the University of Wyoming College of Law, was recently honored by the Board of Regents of the American College of Tax Counsel who elected Professor Delaney as Fellow of the College.

UW College of Law listed 4th for Highest Federal Clerkship Placement

May 29, 2018 — The University of Wyoming College of Law has been named among the top 50 schools in the nation for highest percentage of students that secured a federal clerkship by Law.com and Above the Law.

May 22, 2018 — Led by Professor Tara Righetti, and in collaboration with College of Law alumni and Land Analyst for Anadarko, Caley Faulkner (J.D. ’17), students were able to tour the Jim Bridger Coal Mine and the Western Gas Resources Granger Plant.

April 25, 2018 — The Defender Aid Program has been through changes over the past couple of years. Since the sudden passing of long time College of Law Professor and Faculty Supervisor, Diane Courselle, the clinic has gone through some transitions. The College of Law is currently seeking to hire a new permanent faculty position for the clinic, but in the midst of it all, the program has continued to flourish.

April 24, 2018 — The Defender Aid Program at the College of Law recently received notice of a huge victory in one of their cases that has spanned over the course of a few years.

April 17, 2018 — College of Law Professor Danielle Cover was recognized at the 2018 Shepard Symposium on Social Justice with the Faculty/Staff Award.

Second Salt Creek Scholar to Join Crowley Fleck

April 17, 2018 — Salt Creek Energy Excellence Scholarship recipient Casey Terrell has accepted an offer to join the nationally recognized energy practice at Crowley Fleck PLLP as an associate in the firm’s Sheridan, Wyoming office.

March 27, 2018 — Two UW Law students competed in the Black Law Students Association (BLSA) Negotiations competition during Spring Break in Brooklyn, N. York. The students competed at the Annual National Black Law Students Association (NBLSA) Nelson Mandela International Negotiations Competition during the 50th Annual NBLSA Convention.

March 27, 2018 — The University of Wyoming College of Law participated in the Fourth Annual Energy Law Negotiation Competition March 24-25, 2018 at the South Texas College of Law in Houston, Tex.

March 19, 2018 — The University of Wyoming College of Law will host the fourth annual Spence Law Firm Historic Trial on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the College of Law Large Moot Court Room.
