Biography

Alyssa Canepa was born and raised in Casper, Wyoming. She graduated with her Masters in English Literature in 2020 from the University of Wyoming, with a minor in Gender and Women’s Studies. She is an Assistant Lecturer for the LeaRN department, working in the Bridge program. Having previously instructed introductory composition, literature courses, and technical writing, she now teaches Bridge first year seminars and freshman composition. Broadly speaking, her research interests lie in understanding female bodies, identities, and sexualities in literature and visual media. In particular, she is interested in work that pushes the boundaries of what constitutes aesthetic pleasure: the disgusting, abject, or repellant. This kind of work awakens her to her own embodied subjectivity and wants to better understand and theorize that aesthetic experience.
