These short articles and handouts feature high-interest teaching topics for faculty and graduate students, especially related to the learning of first and second-year students at UW. These topics are also subjects of Brown Bag Discussions that LeaRN offers in fall and spring semesters.
This website houses all tutoring and supplemental instruction opportunities on campus, as well as academic success advice.
The University of Wyoming's Summit Transition Program is a weekend program designed for new UW students. Summit activities are scheduled on the Thursday through Saturday before the fall semester begins. Each activity offers information and experiences that help new students gain a leg up before the first day of class. Designated sessions are offered for transfer students, veteran students, and students living off campus. These sessions are tailored to the specific needs and experiences of each group.
These weekly out-of-class meetings are peer-led and focus on study and course-based skills for high-difficulty courses, both on-campus and outreach (45 courses per year).
Your Road to Academic Success: A Guide for Students is a helpful booklet for incoming students, parents, faculty, guidance counselors, and anyone interested in the transition from high school to the University of Wyoming.
This on-line platform offers on-line tutoring for undergraduate and graduate students in a variety of subjects including math, writing, and science.
The Synergy learning community is a first-year, cohort-model program for conditionally admitted students.
These major and theme-based cohorts include fall cohort classes and a residential component.
The Promoting Intellectual Engagement Award recognizes outstanding instructors who teach first-year courses.
College Learning and Reading Association certification (levels 1 and 2) are offered for registered tutors on campus.
LeaRN hosts or co-hosts one or two conferences each year available locally and state-wide for educators interested in student teaching and learning.
