UW Libraries Development Board

Mission Statement:

UW Libraries Development Board was founded in 2003. Their mission is to serve in a working partnership with administrators, faculty, and staff members of the university to promote the growth and development of the libraries and the university. They aim to increase exposure to and support of communities throughout Wyoming whose information resource needs are served by Wyoming libraries.

Recent Library Development Board Activities:

The Library Development and the McMurry–Spieles Endowment support the annual Author Event. Every year in April, a well-known author is brought to Laramie to give a free public talk about their work. Later that evening, the author provides another talk at a fund-raising dinner for the library.

Our author talks have included Ann Patchett, David McCullough, Erik Larson, Kathy Reichs, and most recently, award-winning humorist Dave Barry.

Funds raised by the board have purchased study pods, which are tables that serve as collaborative areas where students can work together using different technology. They also purchased the technology equipment for the One-Button Studio, a video recording space for students and faculty to create video projects or practice class presentations.
