2012 Pre-Season Camp Schedule

Pre-season camp is required of all Western Thunder Marching Band members. During these rehearsals the fundamentals of marching and the first show's pre-game and halftime musical selections will be taught. In addition, the pre-game and first halftime show drills will also be taught. Camp begins Saturday, August 18 for all drumline and color guard members, Monday, August 20 for all new members and section leaders, and Tuesday, August 21 for all veteran band members.

Band members living in University residence halls may move into their assigned rooms on the first report date listed above; drumline and guard members move in to their permanent room assignments on Sunday, August 19 after 6:00 P.M. Residence Hall costs will be paid by UW Bands until residence hall contracts begin. All meals during pre-season camp will be provided for you, as well, until meal service begins in the dorms.

Be prepared for the weather! Wear loose and comfortable clothing. Eat sensibly before coming to rehearsal! You should bring the following to rehearsal: hat, sunscreen, sunglasses, water bottle, etc. Athletic shoes are required for all marching and drill rehearsals. All wind players are required to bring a properly fitting lyre to hold the flip folder that UW Bands will provide. You may also bring your own flip folder if you have one.

The Western Thunder Marching Band practice field is located east of Corbett Gym, on the east side of the Fine Arts building. This is the home of UW Bands and is part of the Fine Arts complex on the east end of campus. A detailed pre-season camp schedule follows:
