Title of Talk: Manufacturing Non-oxide Technical Ceramics at CoorsTek: Reactor Considerations for High Temperature Material Synthesis

Abstract: CoorsTek is the world’s leading technical ceramics company with 30 locations spread across the Americas, Europe, and Asia with over 6000 employees.  Technical ceramics have a wide variety of chemical compositions with desirable physical properties making them suited for a wide variety of applications. One sub-group of ceramics, the non-oxides, are chemically synthesized.  These reactions require reactors that operate at extremely high temperatures and have solids handling capabilities.  Several styles of these reactors with be introduced along with a discussion of their advantages and disadvantages.  Additionally, some considerations of process scale-up will be discussed.
