UW Mathematics is right for you because we offer:

  • World-class faculty: Our faculty come from all over the world and are experts in the fields.

  • Small classes: We typically admit 6-8 new graduate students each year, thereby limiting the class sizes to maximize professor-student interactions.

  • Financial support: Our department financially supports 30 graduate assistants each year.

  • Broad research areas: We provide graduate students with a variety of research opportunities in analysis, algebra, combinatorics, number theory, applied mathematics and computational mathematics.

  • Small-town Laramie: Laramie is a friendly, safe town of 30,000.  Many residents enjoy the exceptional opportunities for hiking, skiing and biking in the mountains near town.
