About Dr. Stanescu

Dan Stanescu joined the University of Wyoming faculty in 2003. He came to the University of Wyoming from Florida State University.

During his undergraduate studies he became interested in the numerical simulation of fluid flow, and pursued this interest during his graduate studies, eventually developing several computer simulation codes for aircraft engine noise under sponsorship from Pratt and Whitney Canada and NASA Langley. His interests now include numerical modeling of stochastic differential equations, uncertainty quantification and mathematical biology. Dan also served for six years as the Director of the Institute for Scientific Computation at UW, and became interested in Computational Science education as a means to better prepare current students for careers that are currently in great demand.
