The Mathematics and Statistics Department is committed to providing high quality education for its undergraduate majors,its graduate students,  its minors, and for the numerous students whom we serve in courses and in research. Students should find their educational experiences to be both challenging and uplifting. 
 

We seek to enable our graduates to: 

• Recognize the importance of variation and uncertainty in the world and understand how mathematics and statistics can improve decisions.

• Obtain knowledge of and proficiency with a broad range of mathematical and statistical concepts and tools useful for real world applications, 

• Develop critical thinking skills that enable application of mathematics and statistics in new and unusual settings,

• Become responsible and competent professionals at all levels of employment and successfully pursue any further goals in graduate and post graduate educational programs.

• Mathematics Placement

  • Almost all students entering the University of Wyoming as a freshman or sophomore will be required to take mathematics courses as part of their graduation requirements. To help us establish a baseline, students will be required to take the Mathematics Placement Exam.
