Start of semester Math Registration:

Looking for Math 0925/1400? Fill out the request form on the Math 925/1400 Request page!

REGISTRATION REQUEST FORM

Why can't I register for a Math Class on WyoWeb?

University of Wyoming's Mathematics Department offers registration tools and information

If you are trying to register for a math course via WyoWeb, but you are receiving the message "Please visit the <a>href=https://www.uwyo.edu/mathstats/registration/index.html",
this means that open registration for math courses is now over.

In order to add a math course to your schedule, or to change sections, you will need to complete a manual registration form.

Click the LARGE BLUE "Registration Request Form" Link at the top of the page.  The form will not be available while registration is still open.

Why do we close registration before classes start?

About a week prior to the start of classes, we check to ensure that all enrolled students meet the prerequisite requirements of the course. If a student does not have the necessary prerequisite, an Administrative Drop Warning is sent to their UW email address. This notice includes possible reasons for the notice and instructions to avoid being dropped.

Administrative Drop: About 1 - 2 days prior to the start of classes, all math course registration via WyoWeb is closed. Prerequisites are checked again and anyone not meeting the requirements are administratively dropped from the course.

Closed Registration: Once the administrative drops are complete students may be added to a course or change sections of a course by completing a Registration Request Form

Registration Request Form: During the add/drop period, after registration has been closed, students may request to be added to a course, or to change sections of a course, by completing the registration form. (Link is at the top of this page) Please Note: When requesting a change of section, do not drop yourself from the course, we will add you to one and drop you from the other in one transaction, this way you do not lose your current seat in the event your desired section is full.

What I should know about the Registration Request Form?

  • It is an automated form - Click the link, complete the form and click "Done".
  • More is not better- Do not submit more than 1 request for the same registration request.
  • Use #11. Comments to tell us special information you think we will need such as transfer transcripts or test scores recently completed.
  • First come first serve-each form is processed in the order it was received, and is time stamped.
  • You will be notified by UW email when your request has been processed.
  • 2 business days - This request could take up to 2 business days to process. PLEASE BE PATIENT. Check your schedule AND your UW email frequently. If it has been more than 2 days please contact our office in Ross Hall, RM 029.
  • We are aware that YOU really need this class; and that its important and we are working as quickly as we can to process your request.
  • Attend - You should plan to attend the course while you are waiting for your request to be processed, provided there is room.

More information about Administrative Drop:

Reasons you may have been administratively dropped -  See a List  of common reasons.

What is the Administrative drop? It is a tool used by the department to remove a student from enrolled status in a specific course. The drop notice will be proceeded by a warning to the student's UW email account, informing the student of the risk and acceptable resolutions to the problem. If the student acts quickly to resolve the issue, then the drop is avoided; however if the warning is not responded to or the student is unable to comply with the resolution the student will receive an administrative drop notice.

The two (2) most common reason for administrative drop are related to prerequisite requirements. They are identified below along with some pro-active resolutions to prevent this problem before it occurs:

  1. Transfer Student: Transcripts are used to verify that a student has taken an eligible prerequisite. If there has been a delay in receiving your transcripts or if they have not been added to your student record prior to registration, this would cause a prerequisite error to occur.

Incoming transfer students can avoid this error by submitting an unofficial copy of their transcripts to the mathematics department located in Ross Hall room 224 or by email to math-registration@uwyo.edu. Please be sure your W# and Name appear on the document and your email to ensure proper routing and notification.

  2. Math Placement Exam: The math placement exam score can act as a prerequisite for math courses. The score you receive on the exam relates directly to the prerequisite necessary for a specific math course. Please refer to www.uwyo.edu/mathstats/math-placement for detailed information.

If your qualifying ACT or SAT score is more than 3 years old, or your Math Placement Exam score is more than 1 year old, and you have not received a D or better in a Math class, YOU WILL BE REQUIRED TO TAKE A MATH PLACEMENT EXAM to enroll in all math courses above level 0900, unless you have a qualifying prerequisite math course already on your transcript. This test may also re-taken to improve your placement score.

DON'T WAIT - TAKE YOUR MATH PLACEMENT EXAM - Go to your WyoWeb/Student Records tab/math placement or follow the link from our web page, above.
