Jonathan received a B.S in mechanical engineering from Cornell University in 1986. After two years working for McDonnell Douglas Aircraft Company, he returned to graduate school at Penn State University where he received a Ph.D. in 1993. In 1997, after working for NASA-Ames Research Center for four years, Jonathan joined the University of Wyoming.
