Michael Stoellinger Joins Department as New Faculty Member
The ME Department is delighted to announce the tenure-track hiring of Assistant Professor Michael Stoellinger, who brings expertise in computational fluid dynamics (CFD), combustion, and turbulence to our faculty. Michael is from Austria, but completed his MS in Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University of Munich, and his PhD in Mathematics here at the University of Wyoming under the guidance of Dr. Stefan Heinz. Since finishing his PhD in 2010, Michael worked as a researcher at Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands. Michael is expected to continue his research in combustion simulations while collaborating in the CFD area with Drs. Mavriplis and Sitaraman, and in the combustion area with Dr. Zheng. He will teach various undergraduate and graduate courses in fluid mechanics and heat transfer.
Michael’s wife, Temple Stoellinger, has an appointment with UW’s School of Environment and Natural Resources, and also utilizes her law degree in working with UW’s College of Law.
We welcome Michael and Temple back to Laramie and look forward to their substantial contributions to teaching, research, and public service.
