Nancy Peck received a B.S. in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University in 1984, and her Master's and Ph.D. degrees from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 1987, and 1992, respectively. She worked for the Boeing Company in their Philadelphia rotorcraft division for several years as a structural engineer. In 1995, she joined the University of Wyoming's Mechanical Engineering Department where she is currently an associate lecturer.
