College of Business Mission Statement

The College of Business prepares students for careers by providing quality education in business disciplines, creating and disseminating knowledge, and by assisting in Wyoming's economic development. The College of Business expects the highest level of integrity from our administration, faculty, staff, students, and alumni.


The College of Business strives toward this mission through four basic tenets:

  • We focus on personal interaction among students, faculty, and staff.

  • We strive for distinction in three primary areas:  Entrepreneurship, Ethics, and Sustainability.

  • We favor interactive learning enhanced with opportunities for student interaction with the business community.

  • We are committed to providing our students with the skills necessary for career exploration and job placement.

Learning Goals:

The Department of Management and Marketing contributes to the mission and philosophy of the College of Business by providing business administration, business law, decision science, management, and marketing expertise for teaching, research, and support in these disciplines. The learning objectives for graduates of our program are:

Learning Goals: Business Administration Major

  1. BA students can identify key factors for success and failure in a given business situation.

  2. BA students can describe legal, marketing, financial, and managerial factors that might affect a new business idea.

  3. BA students communicate effectively in writing to a professor and audience.

  4. BA students communicate effectively using verbal presentation skills.

  5. BA students can perform an SWOT analysis.

  6. BA students can generate solutions to common business problems.

Learning Goals: Marketing Major

  1. A Marketing major will be able to describe the major tools available for stimulating demand.

  2. A Marketing major will be able to make a successful verbal presentation.

  3. A Marketing major will be able to make a successful written presentation.

  4. A Marketing major will be able to identify the major issues and approaches to sales.

  5. A Marketing major will demonstrate knowledge of the basics of consumer behavior.

  6. A Marketing major will be able to design a research project to answer a marketing question.

  7. A Marketing major will be able to use integrated marketing communication tools.

Learning Goals: Management Major

  1. Management majors will be able to describe how organizations operate and identify contemporary designs for organizations.

  2. A Management major will be able to give examples of human processes that affect individual and group behavior at work.

  3. A Management major will be able to evaluate the formal Human Resource Systems used to produce work effectively.

  4. Management majors will be able to explain the key issues in decision making.

  5. A Management major will be able to use strategies for negotiation and resolving conflict.
