The department consists of twenty full-time and part-time faculty, eight of whom are foreign-born. Members of the department work with language teachers throughout the state, taking part in their language festivals, workshops and incentive programs. The department also takes part in student exchange programs with universities in France, Germany, Russia, Mexico and Spain.
A language laboratory includes computer terminals, high-speed tape copiers for student use and video facilities for films from around the world -- of particular advantage for self-paced study and tutorial assistance. A video theater in the lab area is available for class meetings and occasional departmental film series.
The H. Dickman Collection (Cinematheque et Videotheque) provides the department with a valuable, on-campus resource. This collection contains more than 400 full-length foreign films, which can be loaned to faculty and students as well as schools throughout Wyoming.
