Undergraduate Spanish Program

Modern and Classical Languages

Track Options

The undergraduate degree in Spanish has two tracks for students to select: Culture, Literature, and Cinema Track or Language-Linguistics Track.

There are multiple entry points into the major depending on previous Spanish language experience. Students should consult the Modern and Classical Languages advisor about the appropriate placement and credit-by-exam options.

The Culture, Literature, and Cinema Program requires 31 credit hours of Spanish coursework beyond SPAN 2030. This includes the following required courses: 2040, 2140, 3030 or 3050, 3040, 3140, 3100 or 3110 or 3120 plus an additional 12 hours of elective coursework.

The Language-Linguistics Program requires 31 credit hours of Spanish coursework beyond SPAN 2030. This includes the following required courses: 2040, 3030 or 3050, 3040, 3060, 3300, and 4090 plus an additional 12 hours of elective coursework.
