Dr. Rhoades' research centers on dramatic literature in Spanish, Portuguese and related languages. His publications include articles on Latin American poetry, prose fiction and theater, as well as Peninsular drama. His book on monotheatre in Latin America appeared in 1986, the year he won UW's John P. Ellbogen award for classroom teaching. He has served as Executive Director of the Partners of the Americas exchange with the state of Goias in Brazil and the state coordinator for the National Spanish Exam.
