Public Administration Program

School of Politics, Public Affairs & International Studies

MPA with Concentration in Environment & Natural Resources

Why an MPA/ENR dual degree?

The Haub School of Environment and Nature Resources offers a unique major that will add a broad interdisciplinary, environmental understanding to any graduate experience at the University of Wyoming. In addition to MPA coursework, students are able to ground their policy and administrative experience in the cultural, legal, and scientific elements of today's most complex environmental challenges.

Program of Study

Students must complete the core elements of the MPA Degree Requirements, but may apply ENR program coursework as MPA elective requirements, making the degree and MPA with an environmental issues focus.

Upon admission into the ENR graduate major, the Haub School’s graduate advisor will require students to create a learning plan for their graduate studies that includes desired course options. Students will be required to complete 15 credit hours, with 6 credits of core ENR classes and 9 credits of electives, as well of a narrative justification at the end of coursework to describe how learning objectives were met.

The Haub School offers a wide variety of courses that satisfy multiple interest and focus areas. Courses offered are a mix of field courses, international coursework, or traditional class-based coursework, dependent on student interest.

What is the admission process?

Students must be successfully admitted to the MPA program, then apply to the ENR program. This can be done at any time during a student’s graduate studies in the MPA program, but because some ENR courses require prerequisites, we suggest that upon admission to the MPA program students reach out to the Haub School’s graduate advisor to begin the process; the advisor can be contacted at haub.school@uwyo.edu.
