Tim Painter: The World Needs More Cowboys & So Does Wyoming

Featured University of Wyoming Alumnus Tim Painter, Director of Bands at Douglas High School, graduated with a Bachelor’s in Music Education in 2015. He is a Wyoming Army National Guard member and a member of the local Masonic lodge. He met his wife, Emily, on their first day of classes at University of Wyoming and they now have a one year old son.

Creative and Innovative: Cellist Jessie Salas and The Woodpile

Moving to Laramie from a more urban area, music performance graduate student Jessie Salas of Pueblo, Colo., was surprised by the thriving music scene in Laramie and the supportive music department that encouraged her to expand her talents into composition. Across campus—from art to research—University of Wyoming students bring their creativity and innovation to a wide variety of pursuits. Now Jessie’s band, The Woodpile, is captivating the nation with their unique Wyoming folk sound and classical influence.
