Ed Breazeale

Ed Breazeale holds a Masters degree in Jazz Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Colorado-Boulder as well as a Bachelor of Music Performance from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music. Currently, he is pursuing a Doctoral degree from the University of Colorado.

Since 2012, Mr. Breazeale has held the position of lecturer in percussion at the University of Colorado-Denver. In addition to teaching applied percussion Ed has taught classes in music theory, ear training, jazz improvisation and directed the UC Denver Pop/Rock Ensemble. Also since 2012, Ed has been an Artist-In-Residence at the Denver School of the Arts (DSA). At DSA Breazeale, along with fellow percussionist Greg Harris, formed the DSA Percussion Ensemble, the DSA Drum Set Armada and designed and initiated the DSA Percussion Camp.

Mr. Breazeale has had the good fortune to perform with many musical luminaries including: Phil Woods, Terell Stafford, the Louisville Symphony, the CCM Philharmonia, Michael Rodriguez, Von Freeman, David "Fathead" Newman and Greg Osby. Breazeale is a Vic Firth Artist/Educator and has conducted clinic performances at the following educational festivals, high schools and colleges: Rolling Meadows Jazz Festival, Evanston Jazz Festival, University of Wyoming Jazz Festival, St. Vrain Jazz Festival, Niwot High School, Skyline High School, Grandview High School, University of Iowa, Northern Kentucky University, University of Colorado and Sheperd's College.

Mr. Breazeale was a lecturer at the University of Wyoming during the 2012-13 academic year. He led the University of Wyoming Jazz Ensemble II, the Wyoming Jazz Combo and conducted master classes for the UW percussionists. The diligence of Universit of Wyoming music students and the professionalism of the faculty compelled Mr. Breazeale to stay involved with the University after his appointment concluded. He has since taught at the UW Summer Music Camp, toured with Vocal Jazz Ensemble, performed with guest artists and adjudicated the UW Jazz Festival. Mr. Breazeale's familiarity the Department of Music programs and teaching experience facilitates the continued success of music students at the University of Wyoming.
