Dr. Scott Meredith is Associate Professor of Trumpet at the University of Wyoming where he teaches applied trumpet, Orchestral Experts, Jazz Techniques, Jazz History, and directs the University of Wyoming trumpet ensemble. His students participated and successfully competed in state, regional and national festivals and competitions: most recently in the National Trumpet Competition in Washington D.C. and the Rafael Mendez Brass Institute in Denver Colorado as well as numerous International Trumpet Guild conferences. Several former members of his studio have gone on to earn masters and doctoral degrees from major music schools such as the University of North Texas and the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.

He has performed nationally with the Owensboro Symphony (KY), the Irving, Plano, and San Angelo Symphonies (TX), Dallas Wind Symphony, Orchestra of New Spain (TX), Baroque Chamber Orchestra of Colorado, Boulder Philharmonic and the Colorado Jazz Orchestra. Currently, he is Principal trumpet with the Wyoming Symphony and Associate Principal trumpet in the Cheyenne Symphony, Principal Solo Cornet with the Western State Brass Band and founding member of the Snowy Range Brass Quintet. He is also a substitute member of the Fort Collins Symphony and Opera Fort Collins. Prior to his appointment at the University of Wyoming Dr. Meredith taught at the University of Northern Colorado and the University of North Texas.

Dr. Meredith maintains an active schedule of performance engagements, masterclasses, and clinics in the United States. He has performed and presented at the 2011, 2012, 2013 International Trumpet Guild Conferences as well as acted as chair for the 2012 ITG orchestral excerpts competition in Columbus, GA. He currently is a member of the judging faculty for the National Trumpet Competition.

Dr. Meredith earned the Doctor of Musical Arts in trumpet performance from the University of North Texas where he studied with Keith Johnson, Leonard Candelaria, and John Holt and baroque trumpet with John Thiessen.  Dr. Meredith earned his Masters degree in trumpet performance from the University of North Texas and his Bachelor of Music Performance and Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Northern Colorado where he studied with William Pfund. He can be heard on a recording of music composed by Jennifer Higdon: Chamber Music of Jennifer Higdon featuring the premiere recording of her "Trumpet Songs" ("Trumpets can sing, too, and trumpeter Scott Meredith does just that, displaying a gorgeous tone and sense of phrasing." - Fanfare Magazine). He can also be heard on the "Teaching Music through Performance in Band" series as well as numerous recordings with the University of North Texas Wind Symphony under the direction of Eugene Corporon as part of the "Klavier Wind Project," including: Convergence, UFO: Music of Michael Daugherty, Time Pieces, Recollections, Symphonic Excursions, Escapades, Carmina Burana, Hemispheres, Allegories, and Retrospectives.
