The IRB is:  A committee that provides you with a group of scientists and community members who help ensure that you have:

• Thought through your methods, including recruiting and consent process,
• Identified the possible risks, and
• Figured out what you will do if an identified risk occurs.
• If there is ever a problem, the committee’s approval of your study procedures could be really helpful!
