  • Using Technology
  1. Technology in the Nursing Classroom -  this is a PowerPoint presentation by Julie Angiola, MS (NCNS Graduate Assistant) illustrating uses of social media (Blogs, twitter, etc) and virtual world techniques for the nursing classroom.
  2. Make interesting, dynamic presentations!
    1. PREZI, an online program to design visually interesting presentations
    2. Slide Rocket, another online option for unique presentations
    3. GoAnimate allows users to make animated videos that can be used in the classroom and beyond. 
  3. Poll Everywhere
    1. Use this program to poll students in class with their cell phones or on a computer. Here is a short tutorial to get started with using the program.
  4. Wordle
    1. Wordle allows you to create colorful, interesting word clouds from any text. Utilize the free website to see what words are used most often from any text. You can save, keep, share, or print your Wordle!
  5. Reference managers
    1. Mendeley is a free online reference manager that will export citations to Microsoft Word, allow annotation on source material, and create bibliographies. An iPhone app is available so you can always access references when necessary.
    2. Zotero is another free online reference manager that will also create bibliographies, export citations to Microsoft Word, and organize references in one easy to use library. For a discussion of Zotero versus Endnote, see this site. Use this document for hints and tips.
  6. BatchGeo
    1. Use BatchGeo to make a map of research data to track trends, respondents, and more.
