Winter Activities

Snowshoeing in the Medicine Bow Forest

The Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest and Snowy Range Mountains are both excellent places to snowshoe/snow hike.

Cross-country skiing in the Happy Jack Wilderness

Several of the Wilderness areas maintain cross-country ski trails during the winter.

Downhill skiing

There are many ski areas near Laramie. Snowy Range Ski Area is 45 minutes and many of the Colorado ski resorts are within 2-3 hours of Laramie. Steamboat Springs, a favorite of many faculty and students, is 2 hours away.

Summer Activities

Hiking/Rock Climbing/Camping

From Vedauwoo to the east, Snowy Range Mountains to the west, Horseshoe Canyon and the Never Summer Forest to the South, there are abundant opportunities for hiking, rock climbing, and camping.

Mountain Biking

Downtown Laramie Farmer's Market

Every Friday there is a Farmer's Market that covers several block of the Downtown area and provides good food, music, and activities.

Cheyenne Frontier Days/Laramie Jubilee Days

Frontier Days and Jubilee Days occurs in early July each year. Both celebrations include, rodeo competitions, food competitions, concerts, and other activities for all ages. The Cheyenne Frontier Days rodeo regularly wins "Largest Outdoor Rodeo" and hosts many rodeo champions.
