I am interested in a possible genetic basis of learning and memory, and the factors which influence these traits. Our lab works on experience-dependent changes in gene expression in mice, specifically focused on the olfactory system. We try to understand how the environment the animals experience as juveniles can alter what genes they amplify or repress as adults; both because it may lead to insights into gene regulatory systems, and because it will help us to build a more complete map of the factors which influence adaptive changes in the transcriptome.
