Health Science Research Day Looks at Disabilities |

April 25, 2003 -- Healthcare for people with disabilities will be the theme for the ninth annual Grand Rounds Research Day in the University of Wyoming College for Health Sciences (CHS) Friday, May 2, from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. in the Wyoming Union Family Room.
UW faculty members and students will explain current research and guest speakers will discuss various aspects of health for individuals with disabilities.
Research funded with the college's 2002 Seed Grant Awards will be showcased, and CHS Dean Robert O. Kelley will present awards recognizing student research presented in poster sessions.
Jacqueline Bresnahan, associate dean and professor of neuroscience at Ohio State University, leads the speaking program with a presentation on cures for spinal cord injury. Janet Seaman of the American Association for Active Lifestyles and Fitness will discuss physical activities for people with disabilities, and Gary Smith of the Human Services Research Institute will present ideas to improve research and public support systems for the disabled.
Ken Heinlein and Laura Westlake of the Wyoming Institute for Disabilities and Dena Goldberg of the UW family and consumer sciences department will lead a panel discussion on vision and nutrition issues for children with disabilities.
