UW to Host Wellness and Destress Events for Students

A variety of free wellness and destress events and activities are planned for University of Wyoming students as the semester comes to a close.

UW Libraries, the UW Wellness Center, the Learning Resource Network (LeaRN) and 7220 Entertainment will offer opportunities to manage stress Monday, May 1-Thursday, May 11.

The UW Wellness Center will host a Zen Den relaxation lounge and massage chairs in Room 107 of Half Acre Recreation and Wellness Center from 9:30 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. Appointments are required for the massage chairs. To schedule an appointment, click here.

The STEP Tutor Center’s Finals-Stravaganza will take place Sunday, May 7-Thursday, May 11. The event will offer tutoring appointments and work sessions in the Student Learning Commons, located on the lower level of Coe Library. Sessions are held in the late afternoon or early evening. Snacks will be available. Students can make appointments by using the Penji app.

An ambient immersive relaxation zone, Legos, “guess the stars” and craft tables will be available in Coe Library from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. daily. Coloring, brain break games and pixel art will be available anytime Coe Library is open.

In addition to these daily activities, UW Libraries will host special events and activities in conjunction with the UW Wellness Center, LeaRN, 7220 Entertainment and the Coe Student Innovation Center (CSIC). All events will take place on the main level of Coe Library, unless noted otherwise.

The schedule is as follows:

Monday, May 1  

-- 9 a.m.-6 p.m.: Paracord craft, CSIC, Room 233 of Coe Library.

-- 10 a.m.-5 p.m.: Foot massage pods.

-- 10 a.m.-until supplies run out: Card-making craft.

-- 3 p.m.: Beverage break.

-- 4-5 p.m.: Kitty cuddle time, Room 115 of Half Acre.

-- 4-5 p.m.: Create virtual reality with Unity, Part 1, Studio Coe, Room 237 of Coe Library. Registration is required. To register, go here. 

Tuesday, May 2  

-- 9-10 a.m.: Grab-and-go breakfast.

-- 10 a.m.-5 p.m.: Foot massage pods.

-- Noon-3 p.m.: Guided origami with Aspen.

-- 3 p.m.: Beverage break.

-- 4-5 p.m.: Puppy playdate, Room 218 of Coe Library. 

Wednesday, May 3  

-- 10 a.m.-5 p.m.: Foot massage pods.

-- 10 a.m.-until supplies run out: Keychain craft.

-- Noon-until supplies run out: 7220 snack attack.

-- Noon-until supplies run out: Embroidery kits and custom puzzles, Room 218 of Coe Library.

-- 3 p.m.: Beverage break.

-- 4-5 p.m.: Create virtual reality with Unity, Part 2, Studio Coe. Registration is required. To register, go here. 

Thursday, May 4  

-- 9 a.m.-7 p.m.: Sphero robot painting, CSIC.

-- 10 a.m.-5 p.m.: Foot massage pods.

-- 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.: Smoothie bike.

-- Noon-2 p.m.: Button-making craft.

-- 12:15-12:45 p.m.: Drop-in meditation, Room 107B of Half Acre.

-- 3 p.m.: Beverage break.

-- 8-11 p.m.: “Geek Out” (food and activity), CSIC.

Friday, May 5 

-- 11 a.m.: Union Fest with food, games and music, Prexy’s Pasture.

-- 4-5 p.m.: Create virtual reality with Unity, Part 3, Studio Coe. Registration is required. To register, go here.

Monday, May 8 

-- 10 a.m.-5 p.m.: Foot massage pods.

-- 10 a.m.-until supplies run out: Friendship bracelets craft.

-- 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.: Smoothie bike.

-- Noon-2 p.m.: Button-making craft.

-- 3 p.m.: Beverage break.
