Feb. 2, 2007 -- The University of Wyoming's premier concert band featuring wind and percussion musicians will perform free concerts in Buffalo, Gillette and Torrington Feb. 8-11.
Locations, dates and times are:
Buffalo -- Thursday, Feb. 8, 7 p.m., Buffalo High School auditorium.
Gillette -- Saturday, Feb. 10, 1 p.m., Campbell County High School.
Torrington -- Sunday, Feb. 11, 2 p.m., Eastern Wyoming College.
Robert Belser, associate professor in the Department of Music, conducts the UW Wind Ensemble. The concert program comprises several popular works for band, including Malcom Arnold's "Tam O'Shanter Overture, Op. 51," and Larry Buck's percussion section piece, "Freckles Rag." Individual students and sections will be featured throughout the concert.
The tour's free concerts, clinics and master classes are possible thanks to generous support from UW's Office of Cultural Outreach, according to Belser.
"Cultural Outreach helps us bring our music to communities throughout the region," he says. "The Wind Ensemble tour is an opportunity for local communities to hear one of the top bands in the country."
