May 21, 2007 -- Ecological consequences of global warming will be among topics presented during a public affairs program Thursday, May 24, at 7:30 p.m. on KCWC, Wyoming Public Television. The program will repeat at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, May 27.

The semimonthly University of Wyoming series, "Wyoming Signatures," will feature a segment with UW Botany Professor Steve Jackson, coauthor of a recently-published study that shows how climates will change during the next 100 years. He says that within a few decades, changing climates will pose huge challenges for predicting economic, agricultural, and ecological consequences.

Also on the program is Richard Smith, UW assistant professor of agroecology and adviser for a new sustainable farm called UW Acres. As part of a broad campus sustainability effort, UW students will grow produce on campus.

A third segment is a feature on the popularity of farmers' markets, where consumers buy products grown and produced by people within their local areas.

"Wyoming Signatures" is produced by UW Television. KCWC can be seen off-air or via cable in communities throughout Wyoming, including Casper, Cheyenne, Laramie, Riverton, Lander, Rock Springs, Green River, Powell, Cody, Sheridan, Gillette, Jackson, Pinedale and Big Piney. Check local listings for specific channel information.
