June 22, 2007 - The recently announced tuition increase at Colorado State University makes the University of Wyoming even more attractive for Wyoming students considering an out-of-state education.

"Historically, a number of Wyoming high school graduates considered CSU as a nearby alternative to UW," says Admissions Director Noah Buckley. "But that number has decreased to a trickle thanks to the Hathaway Scholarship Program and rising tuition at Colorado universities."

CSU announced a tuition raise for out-of-state students by 16 percent, meaning graduates of Wyoming high schools would pay $17,480 per year. UW's base tuition and fees for Wyoming residents is $3,554.20, however, students qualifying for the Hathaway Scholarship Program can earn up to $3,200 per year for their UW education, and may be eligible for additional scholarship dollars.

For more information call Buckley at (307) 766-5160 or go to the UW Scholarship Web site: www.uwyo.edu/scholarships.
