
Feb. 27, 2008 -- Kwasi Ampene and the African Highlife Heritage Band will perform a free concert Saturday, March 8, at 4 p.m. in the University of Wyoming Education auditorium as part of the African Gala Night. The performance will conclude African Awareness Week activities. Ampene and his group of musicians and dancers present African highlife music and perform tightly-knit traditional, neo-traditional, and highlife dance music from Ghana. Featuring drummers, instrumentalists, dancers and singers from Ghana and the United States, the group is recognized as one of the world's finest highlife bands. The event is sponsored by ASUW, the Wyoming African Student Association and the Department of Music. To sample the group's highlife music, click the audio icon above.
