Student Volunteers Go Trick-or-Eating

Printable ArticleEmail this Article

Oct. 23, 2009 -- The University of Wyoming Center for Volunteer Service (CVS) and the Student Leadership and Civic Engagement office will celebrate Make a Difference Day by collecting canned food for the Laramie community. All goods will be donated to Interfaith Good Samaritan.

This service project will be Saturday, Oct. 31, from 3-5 p.m. Students will meet in the Wyoming Union before going "trick-or-eating" -- going door to door asking for food donations.

"Concerned students and Interfaith Good Samaritan realized that October is a very slow month for canned good donations," says Emily Parsonsmith, AmeriCorps member. "Students have organized this service day activity to stock the food shelves of this integral Laramie non-profit organization."

Costumes are encouraged, with a "Best Costume" award to be given out. For more information, call CVS at (307) 766-3117, or e-mail the office at cvs@uwyo.edu.
