Nov. 6, 2009 -- Three landmark California housing projects after World War II will be the topic of the first University of Wyoming history department colloquium Tuesday, Nov. 10, from 3:10-4:30 p.m. in Room 155 of the UW History Building.

Anthony Denzer, UW assistant professor of architectural engineering, will discuss "California's Postwar Suburban Cooperatives: Race, Design and the Federal Housing Administration." Denzer will examine three landmark housing projects initiated in California after World War II.

Denzer will argue that the most progressive group on the issue of race sponsored the most innovative design, while the cooperatives that opted for political compromise exhibited less radical forms of architecture, landscape design and community planning.
