Nov. 6, 2009 -- Three finalists will perform during the biannual University of Wyoming Division of the Snowy Range Piano Competition Sunday, Nov. 15, at 2 p.m. in the UW Fine Arts Center concert hall. Admission is free.

UW piano students between ages 17-26 are eligible to perform. The winner, chosen by an outside judge, will receive a prize of $2,500, and the runner-up will receive $1,000.

The competition is held to advance the arts, promote piano performance and encourage young pianists in the Rocky Mountain region to pursue higher education, says David Brinkman, UW Department of Music head. The competition is sponsored by the Linford-Pfeifer Foundation in partnership with the University of Wyoming.
