Susan Pamerleau

◊ First woman to command the Air Force ROTC

Major General (Ret.) Susan Lewellyn Pamerleau commanded the 3700th Personnel Resources Group Air Force Military Training Center in Lackland Air Force Base from 1988 to 1989. She was the executive officer for the plans and policy division of International Military Staff, NATO headquarters in Brussels from 1989 to 1992. Between 1992 and 1993, she was chief of the resource allocation division and personnel and support team at the U.S. Air Force headquarters in Washington, D.C.

From 1993 to 1994, Pamerleau was the vice commander at the Air Force Military Personnel Center at Randolph AFB in Texas. She commanded the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps at Maxwell AFB in Alabama from 1994 until 1996, when she became commander of the Air Force Personnel Center in Randolph AFB in Texas.

A Knoxville, Tennessee, native, Pamerleau was the fist woman to command the Air Force ROTC. During her career she was honored with the Defense Superior Service Medal, the Legion of Merit, and the Meritorious Service Medal with Two Oak Leaf Clusters. She was employed as the vice president of membership development for the United Services Automobile Association. She is on the board of trustees of the Air Force Aid Society.

Pamerleau is a graduate of Industrial College Armed Forces (1985),  Air Command and Staff College (1977), and Squadron Officer School (1975).

Pamerleau resides in Universal City, Texas.
