Before becoming an elected official, Diana Ohman spent 19 years as a teacher, elementary school principal, and special education instructor in Wyoming. Having served one term as Wyoming superintendent for public instruction and as superintendent of Laramie County School District 1 in Cheyenne, Wyoming, she became Wyoming's Secretary of State in 1995.

Ohman is currently the director of Department of Defense Schools in Europe, a position she has held since August 1999, and lives in Germany.
