March 11, 2004 -- Brent Hathaway, interim dean of the University of Wyoming College of Business since last May, has been named permanent dean following a national search process. His appointment is effective July 1.

"I am pleased to announce that Brent will continue to serve as dean of the College of Business," says Vice President for Academic Affairs Tom Buchanan. "During his interim appointment, he has proven to be an effective administrator, and I know that he will continue to advance the interests of the College of Business and the University of Wyoming as we progress through the second round of academic planning."

"I am honored to have been selected to serve my colleagues in the College of Business as dean," says Hathaway. "I am looking forward to providing leadership to an outstanding faculty and staff, supporting strong programs and scholarship that bring distinction to the University of Wyoming, and implementing the university's strategic initiatives plan. I am grateful for the support I have felt from our faculty and staff, students, alumni, the business community, and administrators from across campus."

Hathaway came to UW in 2001 from Honeywell International Aerospace Services, where he was vice president, responsible for marketing, sales, business strategy, and growth for the $2.5 billion unit.

He received a B.S. (1987) in agricultural economics from Utah State University, an M.S. (1993) in agricultural economics from Purdue University, and a Ph.D. (1997) in business administration from the University of Illinois.
