Feb. 1, 2007 -- The University of Wyoming's College of Health Sciences has announced its alumni of the year.

Marcia L. Dale of Cheyenne is the alumna of the year for the College of Health Sciences. Dale received her bachelor of nursing degree from UW (1960) and gave 42 years of unselfish service to UW, the School of Nursing, and the college. She served as the dean of the School of Nursing for 10 years, and also served as president of nearly every nursing organization in Wyoming. She was the first nurse in Wyoming to be accepted as a fellow of the American Academy of Nursing. Students were her first love, however, and in 2000, she and her husband established and have since supported the William L. and Marcia L. Dale Nursing Scholarship.

Denise Grams of Casper was named Social Work's alumna of the year. Grams began her career helping children cope with the death of their parents. She plans to use her skills on behalf of the elderly.

Christopher G. Krell, M.D., of Kemmerer, is WWAMI's (the medical education program) alumnus of the year. Krell was a resident physician in the Cheyenne Family Practice Residency Program from 1994 to 1997. A general practitioner in Kemmerer, Krell serves as a preceptor for WWAMI's Rural/Underserved Opportunities Program, supervising residents during their rural rotations.

Pat Moore of Cheyenne, who received her master’s degree in 1991, is Kinesiology and Health's alumna of the year. She encourages Wyoming teachers to take advantage of division courses, workshops, and conferences. Moore has been active in and honored by numerous state and national organizations.

Jonathan Ross of Cheyenne is the Communication Disorders (ComDis) alumnus of 2006. Ross, who received his audiology degree from UW (1996), now practices at Cheyenne’s Wyoming Hearing Clinic, where he provides clinical training to many ComDis students.

Carol Tafoya of Cheyenne is the Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing's 2006 alumna of the year. During her 18-year tenure at United Medical Center in Cheyenne, Tafoya rotated through medical-surgical, pediatrics, and intensive care units. In 1987, she became involved with oncology and administering chemotherapy. Physicians praise her skills and compassion, and patients request her for her abilities and kindness to help them face the "dismal disease of cancer."

Kevin Tripp of Scottsdale, Ariz., was named alumnus of the year for the School of Pharmacy. Tripp, a Cody native and 1978 pharmacy graduate, recently was named executive vice president and president, Retail Midwest for SUPERVALU stores. He began his career with Osco Drugs in Casper and Cheyenne, and served as president of Albertson’s drug store divisions. He was also a member of Albertson's executive council that directed food and drug operations for 701 stores in 37 states under the Osco and Sav-on brand names.
