Sept. 20, 2005 -- Margaret W. Conkey will give a free lecture on "Images of the Ice Age" at 3 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, in Room 216 of the University of Wyoming Geology building. A reception will follow the lecture at 4:30 p.m. in the Anthropology building.
Conkey will give an illustrated presentation discussing the history of interpretation and research in the field of "Paleolithic art" as manifest in Eurasia from recent times to 10,000 years ago.
Conkey is a professor of anthropology and Archeological Research Facility director at the University of California, Berkeley. She is also president of the Archeological Division of the American Anthropological Association.
The event is sponsored by the George C. Frison Institute of Archeology and Anthropology, the Wyoming Association of Professional Archeologists, and the Wyoming Department of State Parks and Cultural Resources.
