UW Commencement Speakers Announced

April 27, 2005 Wyoming Gov. Dave Freudenthal, a Wyoming Supreme Court justice, a prominent doctor and a popular author are among the speakers scheduled for the University of Wyoming's 115th spring commencement activities that begin Friday, May 6. Ceremonies for the individual colleges are scheduled Saturday, May 7, and College of Law ceremonies will be held Saturday, May 14.

The schedule of events for individual college commencement ceremonies, along with key speakers, are:

Friday, May, 6:
3:30 p.m.
American Indian Studies, Wyoming Union Family Room State Rep. Patrick Goggles, Ethete.
5 p.m.
Multicultural graduation, Wyoming Union Yellowstone Ballroom -- Leellen Brigman, UW vice president for student affairs.

Saturday, May 7:
8:30 11 a.m.
College of Health Sciences, Arena Auditorium -- Dr. Harold Gardner, founder and manager of Human Capital Management Services, Inc., and Marilyn Fiske, co founder of OCI, a health information technology company.
9 11 a.m.
College of Business, Arts and Sciences auditorium -- student speakers, Chelsea M. Chiono, economics/marketing, Grand Junction, Colo.; Agnessa I. Vartanova, master's degree student, Saratov, Russia; and Lucas C. Neubert, M.B.A., Powell.
College of Education, War Memorial Fieldhouse -- children's author Vivian Paley.
11 a.m. 12:30 p.m.
Free President's picnic for all graduates and visitors, Arena Auditorium concourse.
Noon 1 p.m.
Outreach School commencement open house, UW Honors House on Sorority Row.
1:30 3:30 p.m.
College of Agriculture, War Memorial Fieldhouse -- student speakers, Shawna Comer, family and consumer sciences, Hill City, S.D.; and Seth Heinert, animal and veterinary sciences, Hulett.
College of Arts and Sciences, Arena Auditorium -- Gov. Dave Freudenthal.
College of Engineering, Arts and Sciences auditorium -- Paul Teini, mechanical engineering student from Sheridan, the Joint Engineering Council's outstanding senior.
Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing, Fine Arts Center concert hall -- Mary Kay Goetter of Cheyenne, the school's 2005 distinguished alumna.
6 p.m.
ROTC Commissioning, Fine Arts Center concert hall -- Col. Timothy Sheppard, Wyoming National Guard chief of staff.

Saturday, May 14:
10 11:30 a.m.
College of Law, Fine Arts Center concert hall -- Wyoming Supreme Court Justice E. James Burke.
