Scholarships and Opportunities

Nontraditional Student or Adult Learner Scholarships

Adult Student Scholarship (Spring Award Only)

Applicants must be UW undergraduate first bachelors' degree seeking students who:

  • Are over 25 years of age at the time of application;
  • Completed at least 6 UW credit hours in the fall semester prior to the spring semester which applicant is applying for;
  • Are in good academic standing at UW and received a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.5 or higher;
  • Will be enrolled at UW for 6 credit hours or more in the spring semester which applying for;
  • Are citizens of the United States or permanent residents.
  • Still have financial need as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid
  • Students who have been awarded AS scholarships previously are eligible to apply.

Osher Reentry Scholarship

  • Applicants for the Osher Reentry Scholarship must meet the following criteria: Be between the ages of 25 and 50 at time of application; Pursuing a first Bachelor's Degree in a declared major field of study at UW; Have an enrollment gap of at least 5 years while working on bachelor's degree or starting to work on a bachelor's degree (may be cumulative; does not have to be sequential; Have applied & been accepted at UW; FAFSA filed with UW; Anticipate being in workforce upon graduation from college for at least 10 or more years. 

  • Recipients of the Osher Reentry Scholarship will be referred to on-campus resources such as the Student Success Services program, the Nontraditional and Women's Center, and the Veteran Services Center (if applicable) and will be expected to meet with an advisor at least once each semester as well as complete an annual survey. The scholarship provides up to the semester cost of tuition and fees and continuation is dependent on academic progress and a commitment to obtaining a degree, level of program participation, and need for financial aid as determined by UW Student Financial Aid.

Daniels Boundless Opportunity Scholarship for Highly Motivated Students

  • Applicants for the Daniels Boundless Opportunity Scholarship program must meet the following criteria: Admitted to UW Fall 2013; 2013-2014 FAFSA filed with UW; Age 25 or older as of Sept 1, 2013; Declared a major if you're transferring 60+ credits to UW or have 60+ earned credits at UW; Full-time enrollment for Fall 2013; Working toward your first Bachelor's Degree. The Daniels Fund provides the Boundless Opportunity Scholarship to UW. The Daniels Boundless Opportunity Scholarship honors and supports nontraditional students who recognize the value of an education to create a better life. Bill Daniels said "America remains the greatest nation on earth, where boundless opportunities still exist for each and every one of us". The Daniels Boundless Opportunity Scholarship Program provides financial, academic and personal support and will require commitment from the scholars in the program.

  • Acceptance to the Daniels Boundless Opportunity Scholarship program requires ongoing placement & participation in either the Student Success Services program or the Nontraditional Student Center's cohort mentoring & academic program. The scholarship provides up to $1,000 per semester (fall and spring) for up to two years and continuation is dependent on academic progress, level of program participation, and need for financial aid as determined by UW Student Financial Aid.

Kercher Family Scholarship in Education

  • To be eligible for this scholarship award an applicant must be enrolled as a graduate student in the Adult Learning and Technology Department or any non-traditional student in the College of Education with financial need.

McKeown Family Scholarship

  • The McKeown Family Scholarship is for new nontraditional age undergraduates beginning their postsecondary education or returning to continue undergraduate work after an extended absence. Applicants must be new entering UW students either the Fall semester or the Spring semester. The McKeown Family Scholarship is for the entering semester only. 

  • Application deadline for students entering UW in the Fall Semester is July 1 annually.  Application deadline for students entering UW in the Spring semester is Nov. 23rd annually

University Women's Club Scholarship

  • Applicants must be female, nontraditional students.  Nontraditional students must also meet the following criteria:  Undergraduate students must be at least 25 years old by September 1 of the current year.  Graduate students must be 30 as of September 1 of the current year.
  • Applications will be accepted from full time and part time students at any UW campus, from UW outreach and on-line students, and from undergraduates and gradate students.

  • Award for non-traditional student over 25 who must enroll the following year in the College of Arts and Science with an English major at UW.
  • Award will appear as a lump sum deposit in UW student account by the end of the semester of application.
